Pours deep cloudy reddish brown, small beige head. Aroma of sweet caramel, grain, dark fruits, yeast. Taste is complex with sweet full malts with caramel, stone fruits, yeast, dry. Moderate body and an almost spritzy champagne carbonation which to me emphasises the dryness rather than working in compliment to the body. I enjoyed it but think I need to come back to this one. I feel like I'm missing a lot of nuance here.

Picked up at either Whole Foods or the Dutch pub near Leicester Square. Early taste of a Dubbel when I was first going through the Protz 300 book. It's unfortunate that I have to add vague rating in order to get the beer to count towards my stats but I am not planning to start drinking old ticks again unless there are no new ticks available.

Rating ingevoerd met terugwerkende kracht. Fles uit 2007, geprobeerd op 03-09-2016. Gedeelt door Inoven. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een robijn rode gloed. Het heeft weinig tot geen schuim. Het aroma is gebrande mout en kruiden. De smaak is moutig, kruidig en caramelachtig.

Õlle on selline jook, et iga uus kord kui klaasi või pudeli suule tõstad, siis leiad midagi uut, sõltuvalt tuhandest-miljonist pisiasjast, mis hetke olukorda mõjutavad. Seega piirdun iga õlle juures selle tekstiga.

(bottle 0,33l from Svět piva (Brno)) Overall: Good, quite complex, especially in taste and finish. Drinkable. Aroma: Sweet, dark malts, dries dark fruits (cherries, raisins), spicy, caramel. Appearance: Light hazy, brown-ruby. Minimal, beige head. Taste: Medium-strong sweet, spicy belgian yeasts, dried dark fruits, dark malts, chocolate, caramel. Palate: Medium body. Good carbonation. Quite complex finish, light but long - astringent, spicy, warm, bitter.

Bottle at Hops, Crewe The colour this pours is definitely burgundy – with very little head. The nose has dark fruits and sweet chestnuts. More fruit in the mouth, with raspberries to the fore. Hints of honey, malts and yeast as well. Finish is restrained with some caramel and chocolate. A very good dubbel indeed.
