They say there’s no such thing as a free meal – but as you wind your way through wooded hills towards the tiny village of Cranborne, you might chance upon a charming rogue who says differently.
For years, the Cranborne Poacher has roamed these parts, outwitting both authority and prey in pursuit of pilfered plums and a pheasant for his pot.
Crystal and chocolate malts provide a full-bodied taste with sweet, complex flavours of damson and liquorice.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma. Slightly roasted malty caramel flavor with some hints of licorice and some hints of hops. Has a sweetish malty caramel finish.

Yes, there is just a little bit of fruits and malts in the nose but not nearly enough to call it an aromatic beer. Looks all right though, nice brown colour and thick head. The fruit definitely comes through in the taste, lots of grapes and cherry flavours, slight malty and hoppy hints and a dry finish. A good rendition of a "fruity" beer.

Bottled (thanks Papsoe!). Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, hops, liquorice and mild berryish notes. Flavour is chocolate, roast, rich fruity and berryish notes. Rather nicely balanced. Matches well with cheese.

Bottled. Chestnut-ruby brown color, small off-white head, some lace. Aroma of sweet berries, fruit caramel and grass. Funny beer: black currant, blueberry, malty and sweet with some English hops. Interesting combination. Tested also with Oude Gouda, matches well.

Bottle, Sainsbury’s, Upton. Poured a darkish mahogany colour with a medium tan head. A fruity number this, definitely picked up on the damsons in the aroma and flavour. Caramel malt and more fruit with a hint of spice are the predominant themes in the flavour which was somewhat sweet. On the whole I enjoyed this and would have again.

pours dark brownRed with a fine white head. aroma of sour and acid berries, honey, hops. aroma is terrific. flavor is not. the fruit is much sweeter to the taste, and the beer bitterness dont go well for balance. it gets sort of artificial lollipop that is too old. bitterness is not piny hops bitterness but more like vomit bitterness. alc well hidden.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Clear, deep amber golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving laces. Distinct aroma of blueberries. Medium body, sweetish fruity with some caramel. Distinct blueberry notes – really reminds me of a blueberry muffin! 220808

Bottle, thx to fonefan. It pours a clear, golden body with a quite small white head. Some licorice-like aromas combined with a malty background. Fennel, toffee and some butterscotch in the flavor. Medium body. It finishes with a malty sweetness, a licorice touch, fruityness and some bitterness. An unusual flavor profile still provides good drinkability, but it fails to excite or impress. Rating: 5-3-5-3-11-2.7. (080822)
Bottle. A clear, copper beer topped by a small, off-white head. Fruity nose with licorice, tending towards some caffeine energy drink. Licorice, candy, some sweetness and a little bitterness in the mouth, medium to full-bodied. Quite effervescent. I’m not really sure about this one, it’s both nice and not, maybe because it feels a bit artificial. (090430)
