Named after Paisley’s river, White Cart Water, this golden full-bodied ale boasts smacks of flavour. The appearance is enhanced by a touch of wheat malt, giving good head retention and a wonderfully dry after-taste that won’t be easily forgotten. As the name suggests feel free to enjoy ‘Cart Blanche’ as the mood dictates.

Cask-conditioned at the Cafe Royal, Edinburgh 7/06/2011. Deep gold with a decent white head. Aroma of grapefruit, apricot and sweetish malts. Flavour had more slightly soapy fruit leading to a tart finish. Good.

Bottle, Victoria Wine, Glasgow. Poured a hazy amber with a thin dirty white head. Biscuity malt aroma, quite sweet. Possibly an off bottle, carbonation too lively, some sourness. Muted, musty hop. A wrong un , and I’ve got cart blanche to stick this down the drain.

Draught Short-lived white head over old-golden beer. Fresh citrussy hops, nearly USA rather than UK ones, roasted soup dumplings. Sweetish beer, malty, with a good kick of hops, ending grapey. Light bodied, more citrus in the aftertaste. Very nice session beer.

golden with a lasting white head. Intense aroma of peach and citrus. Very bitter - halfway through the GBBF this gave nice memories of APAs...
