Pours clear and yellow with a medium frothy white head. The aroma contains grain, corn and malt. It tastes medium sweet and light bitter. Thin body, watery texture, very short dry finish. A student favourite and typically found at parties, but so notoriously bad it almost becomes good.

50cl can from an Avoond Winkel in Ghent - the only beer there I hadn’t tried. Amber with a billowing white head; sweet cereal aroma; corn syrup taste, but with a decent herbal bitterness; and a rather sweet finish. A slight improvement on fizzy water.

At Rich’s Massive Cellar Emptying Tasting. Very very pale clear gold. Sweet grainy honey aroma. Grainy chalky in offensive but dull beer. Would be good as a base in a off-flavor tasting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Low budget ’pilsje’, aimed at students and alcoholics whom one can often see carrying whole crates of it from Colruyt supermarkets, for which it is made (or rather: has been made by several different breweries throughout the years). The fact that each year, the brewery able to offer the cheapest price is allowed to make it and that Colruyt refuses to openly communicate which one, has been irritating me for years. Anyway, in attempting to objectively review it and not considering its rather depressing image in contrast with the certain cult status it seems to enjoy, there is not really that much wrong with this: it is what it is, a very simple, super cheap, pale golden blonde lager with thin snow white head and some malt sweetness, a bit grainy, thin, metallic, straightforward and bland, corny with a watery body and with a very brief whiff of grassy hop bitterness in the finish, some chemical notes too. Not completely off-putting, but obviously extremely bland and boring, like the vast oceans of standard industrial lagers throughout the world. Serves its purpose I guess, but nothing more than that; it has a devoted fan base in Belgium, too, which is completely beyond me (this fan base even openly and quite vigorously protested on social media when Colruyt announced their intention to change the name of this beer - making me hate it even more than before).
