Bottle from Waitrose. Black body with a medium tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma of coffee, plain chocolate and raisin. The flavour feels a bit diluted but there are faint notes of chocolate and prune. Thin body with watery, slightly oily mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. A decent Porter but lacking depth and complexity of flavour.

Cask at The White Lady, JDW, Edinburgh. Pours dark brown with a good creamy off-white head. Cream notes continue on the aroma, with milk chocolate and something nutty. Taste is good, decent balance, but could do with more roastiness for a stout. Finishes a bit thin.

50cl bottle. Opaque black with a decent crema head. The nose has liquorice and charcoal with a decent chocolate/coffee note in the background. The taste has more liquorice, in fact salty liquorice. The palate is medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly clean finish. Overall, good beer.

Appearance: Black color with a fine beige head that leaves some lacing.
Aroma: Chocolate, some coffee and a bit sour.
Palate: Medium body. Moderate sweetness, and a moderate bitterness. Soft to average carbonation.
Taste: Chocolate, some roasted malt and mild coffee.
Overall impression: Ok flavor although a bit sour aroma.

Cask at GBBF 2013, Olympia, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Rich, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes is similar, rich, malty, chocolate, sweet, some caramel. Very nice indeed.

Aroma has British hops, toffee, some licorice and hints of smoke. Flavour has British hops too. Also toffee, somewhat salty licorice, coffee and hints of ash. The roasted notes are nice, the salty and British aromas are not.

A colablack colour, a head is medium and beige. The nose of chocolate, balanced roastiness and some bread, also hint of vegetables. Taste is balanced between roastiness and other nuancees, lactose, black coffee and some bitterness in the end. Almost medium bodied, low and small-bubbled carbonation, smooth to drink. Stout with lots of flavours. Balanced and not too burned.
