(Draft at Akkurat, Stockholm, 4 Aug 2025) Golden colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with white bread, peaches, grass and herbal hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of bread, peaches, citrus, coriander and a balanced herbal bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well balanced and tasty. Nice one.

Special version of Belgoo Luppo, dry-hopped with a different hop variety - and even if this site states it clear that this variety differs between each version, I see no way to determine which one was used in my sample, as it is nowhere mentioned on the bottle. I could make a guess, I suppose, but since each version uses a mix of hops that sometimes overlaps with another version, I really don't know where to start - so to hell with it, I'm putting my rating here under the original version. I'll try to find out later and move this rating if necessary; in any case my bottle has a 'best before' date of December, 2020. Medium thick, egg-white, membrane-lacing, small-bubbled head slowly showing some gaps here and there but generally remaining very stable, on a misty straw blonde beer with ochre-ish hue and some small, disparate strings of sparkling. Aroma initially strongly dominated by the dreaded 'lightstruck' effect (cat pee) so I'm guessing the bottle must have spent time in the sun, but after this fades a bit (unfortunately never going away completely), I get hints of fresh lemonbalm leaves, old wrinkled green apples, bread crumbs, cold camomile tea, sunflower seeds, hard pear, old dried out lemon peel, hints of gypsum, moist white pepper, bitter weeds, 'herbes de Provençe', unripe banana, diluted tonic water. Quite crisp onset, fruity notes of green pear, unripe banana and apple peel, restrained in sweetness with a sourish edge, reinforced by lively, yet nowhere harsh or coarse carbonation; slight minerally notes accompany a slick, white-bready malt body, smoothened by the oats (also adding a softly grainy effect) but still kept 'prickly' by the carbonation, increasingly dominated by the hops, releasing retronasal effects of dried lemon peel and lemonbalm, but also of field flowers and green garden herbs, while depositing a pleasant, mildly spicy, slightly zesty but also earthy bitterness. Quite some bready yeastiness lingers, along with a chalky-soapy note and some clove-like 'Belgian' phenols, but not overly so; the hops do get attention, but as mentioned above, in a 'marred' way alas, since skunked effects have set in due to exposure to light - making it all the more difficult to try and determine which hop variety was used here. Given that each batch of this Belgoo Luppo Extra apparently contains a different hop variety, it is completely beyond me why this is not mentioned on the label - otherwise, what is the goddamn use of changing it every time? I'll try to figure that out directly with the brewery, but judging this for what it is: a pleasant enough, but typically Belgian Belgian IPA, which usually is a lot more 'blonde' or 'tripel' than IPA. Elegantly hoppy Belgian blonde probably sums it up better. Nice, solid, accessible and enjoyable, like all these Belgoo beers.

Flaska från Etre Gourmete drucken med ölföreningen. Smak och doft av humle, malt, jäst, säd och citrusskal. Mycket lätt, något stram och krispig, fin fruktighet och beska. Gott!
