This barrel-matured beer was originally tapped as "bitter" in English pubs. Only when it was bottled did it become "pale ale". At the beginning of the 1980s, the first craft brewers in the USA adopted the old brewing style and reinterpreted it. This is how “pale ale” became the beer that still stands for the craft movement like no other. A real alternative to the Pilsner!

Draught Very stable, dense, off-white head over finely carbonated copper beer. Very aromatic, lunaria, nectarine dominated nose. Bit other grains, which would become oppressive if more pronounced. Sweet - bit citrussy flavours. Bitterness utterly absent. Smooth, quite slick, and malty aftertaste. Medium bodied, good carbonation. Run-of-the-mill.

On-tap at Brauhaus Lemke Hackescher Markt, Berlin on 11th October 2021. Clean amber/orange body, thin white head. Malty nose and flavour, biscuits and brown bread, light citrus notes arrive as the beer warms in the glass. Draught @ Lempke am Schloss, Berlin. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malt, honey, light sweet fruity hops. Flavor is sweet, malty, light caramel, honey, sweet fruit. Medium body, soft to average carbonation, light sweet finish. 260720

Tap at Lemke am Hof. Deep golden color with thick hite head. Light citrus hoppy aroma with oranges, tangerines,, zest. Taste, solid malty base followed by oranges, tangerines, zest, pines. Nice medium long fruity hoppy finish.

On tap at Brauhaus Lemke am Alex, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out oily resins, piney, and bready malt. Flavour is quite piney, with piney hops, oily resins, and crisp biscuity malt. Oily palate, with a crisp, piney finish. Very well-done.
