Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt, soft roasty, caramelly nutty aroma. Malty sweet, soft roasty nutty flavor with some bitter notes and hints of licorice. Grassy finish with bitter nuts. Carbonation is soft. Tasty and well balanced beer.

24.09.2015, tap @ Arendsnest:
Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly sour-ish, grass, roasted grain, weeds, sour coffee, burnt caramel, bark, nuts, cocoa, unripe banana. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish, roasted grain, sour coffee, burnt caramel, grass, hay, ashes, weeds, cocoa, bark, unripe banana. Medium bitterness, harsh burnt and slightly watery mouthfeel. Not my cup of tea.

Kees Smoked Pecan Porter. 330 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate foamy tan head. Aromas of black coffee, nuts and light roasted malts. Flavors of same with emphasis on acrid nuts. Some sharp rye and a small amount of smoke coming through. Quite nice.

Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, coffee, cacao, roasted nuts and a balanced cacao bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well made with a generous dose of roasted nuts. Nice one.

Bought this bottle at De Bierkoning, attracted by the ’smoked pecan porter’ deScription, but it did not live up to its price tag. It was just a regular porter, with only a slightly different bitterness in the aftertaste that resembled pecans.
