Arends Nest. Keg. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, good fine carbonation. Thin dark malts, very light cream and smoke. Mild tangy fruits. Airy dry finish. Not bad but lacks the character of the Creme Brulee.

330 ml. bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub. Ruby red dark brown with uneven mocha bubbles. Nose is overly metallic, lightly herbal, there is light basic smoke, mainly sugary, metallic & lightly herbal, not getting pecans. Taste is weak sugar, tad thin, almost couch watery, lightly herbal, touch water,… Body is a bit watery. Sadly didn’t get any pecans in the taste either. Below expectations, lack of pecans was disappointing. Passable still in general.

0.33 l bottle from De Bierkoning, best before 8/2016. Clear, deep red with a thin, frothy, almost stable, tan to brown head. Roasty-malty aroma of coffee, burned nuts, almond and hints of prunes. Sweetish, roasty-malty taste of coffee, burned nuts, dark chocolate and hints of caramel, followed by a long, coffeeish, roasty-bitter finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Quite monotonous with lots of coffee, too much for the nuts to really shine through. If there’s any smoke in it, it is very subtle. Still quite enjoyable but below my expectations.
