Draught @ Bierhaus Munchen, Helsinki. Pours dark copper orange with a large foamy head. Aroma of caramely malts, pine, resin, grass and herbal hops. Taste is herbal hoppy, piney, resinous and caramely malty with some grass, citrus and hints of fruits. Finish is piney, resinous and herbal hoppy with some citrus, fruits and grass, hints of caramely malts. Pretty fresh, piney and resinous old skool west coast IPA.

Tap at BeerTemple, 20th December 17. Pours golden, some head and lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, quite fresh. Taste is smooth, citrus hop, good strong malt profile. Quite liked this.

At BeerTemple in Amsterdam, a German brewed American style IPA apparently - more and more German adaptations of American style craft beers are popping up lately, notably later and slower than in many other European countries though, which is easily explained if you're familiar with the traditional German beer history and culture, but let's not go into that here. This one is more American than other new German IPAs, though, in that Pizza Port apparently has a hand in it... Cobweb-lacing, egg-white, very creamy, thick and dense, stable head over a hazy bronze-tinged amber-orange beer. Aroma of fresh orange peel, red onions sweating in frying butter, melting Camembert cheese, bell peppers, pineapple, sundried tomato. Clean onset, melon- and pineapple-like fruitiness, pear hint, sweetish with a sourish hint, medium carbonated, full and oily mouthfeel. Subtly toasty-nutty malt body, biscuity, with a building hop colour filled with grapefruit, sweet onion, tomato peel and a hint of pine, adequately bittering but not too harshly so and well in balance with the lightly toasty malt body. More malt-forward than average for a standard 'international IPA', but precisely because of that, different and very tasty. Loved this one.
