Bottle a tight home in Hackney - picked up at Clapton Craft. Pours deep black-brown with a dense, frothy beige head. Tasty if a bit simple, with rounded cocoa, some milky coffee, lightly ashy toasted malts, nips of dried berries. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and velvety texture. Decent balance in the finish, more chocolate, burnt toast, brown bread, baking cocoa. Solid.

Bottle bought at Tilquin English Beer Festival 2018. Shared with Anke.
Pours cloudy black with a small, foamy, beige head; little lacing. 'Dark' aroma of coffee ground, sweet tobacco, cigar ash, smouldering campfire, fig, pure fondant, roasted malt. It tastes light fruity sweet, hint of fig, and light to medium roasted bitter, coffee & fondant, even very light umami (black olive). Dry, toasty finish, lingering coffee. Medium body, thin oily texture, soft carbonation. Good Stout, albeit a bit 'friendly' in taste.

F: big, pale tanned, good retention. C: dark, opaque with red hue against the light. A: roasted malt, chocolate, fruity, caramel, dark bread crust. T: dark malts, bit roasted tones, bit cocoa, dark fruits, dark cherries, medium body and carbonation, quite nice but not outstanding, enjoyed, sample from tap @ Tilquin English Beer Festival 2018.

Draft sample @ Tilquin English Beerfest 2018.
