Boks fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø - Langnes. Dyprød. Lavt skum med litt farge. Spotlacing. Aroma av kaffe & sjokolade. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken kaffe. Lett tørr avslutning. Bra - men uvariert.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 9/19/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red/brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big nutty medium roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, cream, and toasted brown bread; with light notes of smoke, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready malts, cocoa, coffee, lactose, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty medium roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, cream, and toasted brown bread; with light notes of smoke, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/grassy hop and roasted/coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, cream, toasted dark bread, light smoke/dark fruit, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malts, cocoa, coffee, lactose, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a solid hop/roast bitter/sweet balance, and no cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is an outstanding flavored English brown ale. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malts, cocoa, coffee, lactose, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Amazing balance of rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, cocoa, and lactose flavors; with mild fruity yeast and earthy hops against sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing spot on style example as expected.

Sampled on draft at Urban Tap this beer poured a very dark brown color with a large foamy tan head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was brewed coffee and roasty malts. The flavor was sour burnt brewed coffee and a hint of vanilla. Long burnt coffee finish. Medium body. Not good.

Good beer although the coffee quality seems to break down quickly. I had one a couple of weeks ago and the coffee was fresher and Bolder. Bittersweet and nice.
