Sweet but not cloying. Excellent evening cup or as a dessert alone. More or less a pastry stout. Ok Baltic porter pastry…. Solid but yet balanced marshmallows and lactose profile in this one Also some oak, toffee and fruity stuff in the flavor Yummi [Bottle from Vinmonopolet Aker Brygge in Oslo, Norway]

Colasvart med lavt lys brunt skum. Kjenner fatlagringen godt i lukt, tydelig vanilje og trevirke. Brunt sukker, noe lønnesirup og kaffe. Fyldig. Smaker svisker, dadler, sirup, kaffe, eik og fin alkoholsting i avslutningen.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Tromsø Sentrum. The oily pour reveals a shiny naked surface, near-black body, dotted spots on the glass. Delicate smell of oak vanilla and cocoa. Powerful taste profile of vanilla chocolate, lactose, rye bread, subdued syrup and dried fruits. Long-lived, warming finish, not overly sweet. Velvety smooth on the swallow. Full bodied. Lovely sipper. (Tromsø at home on dark Yuletide eve, 27.12.2018).

15 December 2018. Black Beer Fest, Ieper. Cheers to Anke, Erwin & Ama Deke! Thanks to the guy at the brewer's stand for slipping me a sample of aquavit, hehe. Hazy black with a lasting, very thin, tan head; little lacing. Strong aroma of cream, vanilla, cookie dough, marshmallow, mocha, milk chocolate, caraway, aquavit by extension. Taste is medium to heavy malty sweet, lots of fudge, cream & cookie dough, marshmallow by association; a light roasted bitterness brings nuts & mocha, slightly spicy with caraway & cinnamon, but uncompromisingly sweet throughout. The sweetness is somewhat lifted by a dryish, peppery hoppy finish, a bit spicy, but regains footing with lingering cream & marshmallow. A sharpish, warming dash of herbal liqueur alcohol (aquavit, simply) tops it off. Full body, creamy, soft to fizzy carbonation. Not the most complex of Stouts, but delicious, and solid. A guilty pleasure.
