One of my first beers made as a home brewer and one of my father’s favourites, perhaps because of the memories from his youth kindled by the classic bitter taste … sip after sip. This is why it’s called Barry’s Bitter.

On cask Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa. Clear burnt orange with some lacey white head. Bang on nose, malt and honey and treacle and sweet tea. Blonde coffee arrives, big grain character, treacle. Super soft and satisfying. Nice cask treatment in Rome. 6 4 6 4 12

Cask, Ma Che, 5/12/24. Clear, bright, great condition. Big head. Yeasty, fruity, moderately hoppy. So frickin clean. Immaculate but malty, rich, very nicely attenuated. Dusty, floral and earthy hops. Decent bitterness. Just a clean and nice, yeasty, fresh, insane drinkable beer.

Cask at Lambiczoon: pours light copper with cask head. Aroma is sort of earthy and weird candy. Taste is actually sort of bitter. Easy drinking.

Amber, quite cloudy per style, with a medium sized slightest off-white head, ok retention, not much lacing. Aroma is mainly malty with nutty notes upfront and light caramel. A light fruity note too (in the likes of marmelade). Not especially rich or potent, but feels nicely soft/delicate. Taste notes: nutty and caramel malts, now more or less equivalent in prominency, light fruity notes (marmelade), slight flowery and earthy hints. Not very vivid or potent in taste. Probably a bit sweeter than style average, but still a nicely balanced beer. light bodied with light to medium carbo, resulting in an easy, sessionable mouthfeel. Fair.

From cask at Archea Brewery in Florence 10.08.21. Dark golden amber. Dense and persistent off-white head and lacing. Fine aroma and taste of meadowy hops, marmalade, pale malt, caramel malt and biscuits. Good!
