Bottle #1254. Pours a muddy amber with a medium, frothy, tan head. The aroma is intense candy (butterscotch, caramel, toffee), oak, some earthy hops, dark fruits, and molasses. The flavor is immensely sweet, with a little bitterness in the finish. The palate is medium to heavy, syrupy, sticky and acidic. This is an astoundingly powerful beer, with wonderful whiskey aroma and flavor. The whiskey is very strong, and adds great depth to the aroma and smoothes the flavor.

Bottle @ home. 11.8% abv, 2012 vintage. Let’s see if this mofo is worth $25-28 for a 750mL. Dark red orange appearance with a nicely carbonated, tan head. Initially a pretty floral hoppy aroma but that gets overtaken by an oaky, whiskey, dark caramel, light vanilla, a bit boozy aroma. Warming, dark fruity, rich caramel/chocolate, whiskey, big vanilla/oaky, coconut flavor. The floral hoppiness doesn’t come through nearly as much in the flavor. More smooth and less boozy than the normal version despite the higher abv. Lots of dark fruits in the flavor and a fair amount of toffee and caramel. Smooth, toasty caramel malty, dark toffee finish. I’m quite surprised on the drinkability and smoothness of this brew. No burn on the finish and not really any fusel alcohol notes. Not sure if it’s worth the huge price tag, but I do like it a lot more than the normal version.

Bottle shared by someone at October Houston. Pours a cloudy deep amber brown with a gray head that dissipates completely. Aroma is full of sweet grains and caramel with a nice complementing whiskey note. Flavor has grain and bread with a hint of caramel and a nice growing whiskey note. Well balanced.

Bottle number 426 of 1188 thanks to ditmier. Pours out a brown with some ruby red highlights topped with a small ring of a head. Aroma was of booze, vanilla, caramel, sweet malts, and some wood. Taste was more of the sweet caramel and vanilla., the booze also carries over. Pretty much flat but still drinkable.

Deep copper with a creamy and lasting tan head. Aroma has vineous fruit, malt and caramel, with oak and bourbon-like coconut notes. Sweet and boozy malt and wood flavour with hot alcohol, and a bitter finish. Cloying.
