Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 4th March 2023. Deep sepia black with tan foam and spot lacing. Roasty malts aroma. Dark chocolate and café-au-lait in-mouth, and a roasty finish. Smooth mouthfeel and a lightish body.

Can ordered from A Hoppy Place, Windsor. Aroma is creamy, with light coffee and a touch of dark berries. Glossy. Dark. Cola tint. Creamy frothy if blotchy light beige head. Sweet - sugary, creamy. Underlying sour berries. A hint of bitterness, more so into the finish. Light-medium bodied. Thin cream. Average carbonation. Long astringent finish. It's OK. Just overly sugary for me. Wouldn't want another straight away.

Can from the brewery online shop. Pours black with a decent tan head. Aromas of blackcurrant and liquorice, light coffee. Taste has sweet blackcurrant, balancing roasty notes.

Keg at the Peckham tap room. A opaque brown black coloured pour with a fine light tan head. Oily. Aroma is earthy, coffee, wet coffee grounds, light praline, coco. Choc powder. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, oily, brown sugars, toast, coco powder, some lactose sweetness. Wet coffee. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, bitty, moderate fine carbonation. Ok.

On tap at Ravensgate Arms Ramsgate, Black beer thin tan head. Chocolate sweetish flavour. Light roast on aroma. Juicy in the mouth. Not my thing but not horrible. Too lactose for me.
