Amstelveense Pale Ale.

Bottle split with Kenny in the special surprise room tasting, Amsterdam Inntel pre Borefts livener, 25/09/14. Murked up dark Seville orange with a well appointed light beige covering. Nose is bitter citrics, light spice, caramel, straw. Taste comprises caramel malt, sweet licks, light hop tunes, bitter orange, tangy apricots. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, semi drying close. So so affair, lacks hop presence and ’overcarbed’ Dutch beer shocker!

Bottle from De Molen Store. Shared with Slothez, Superbowl session. Hazy gold pour with a shy white head. Muted hop and citrus in the beak. Sweetish flavour with notes of yeast, fruits, plastic and grassy hop. Expected a bit more robust hop bitterness. Acceptable if a tad undwerwhelming.

330ml bottle [as Hocus Hoppus]. Nearly clear, amber colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Cautious, floral and minimally fruity hop aroma. Taste is moderately bitter hoppy, minimally fruity, minimally soapy, subtle sweetness, hints of gooseberry, other berries and their parings. Not my taste.

Bottled @ de Molen, small sample. Slight hazy golden color, medium slight off-white head. Aroma of some citrus, bit flowery hops, quite spicy yeast. Bit bitter in taste, bit sweet, bit dry. Typical belgian blonde beer. They mention it to be a hoppy blonde beer on the bottle and that’s basically what it is, albeit not so hoppy.
Earlier Rating: 7/25/2013 Total Score: 2.4
Tap @ Arendsnest, small sample. Slight hazy golden color, short head. Aroma of sweet banana candy, bit spicy, some soft flowery hops. Nothing like an IPA, or hops that are suggested in the name. Bit dry in taste, medium sweet, soft bitterness. Boring and the sweet banana candy in the aroma gets annoying.
