Amstelveense Pale Ale.

Tap at the Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Poured a cloudy medium amber with a frothy off-white head. The aroma is rich fruity and hoppy. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with some liqourice, malt and a little alcohol on the sharp but refreshing palate. For a Dutch brewery this really is one of the better hoppy beers I’ve tasted. At least the yeast does not dominate.

Keg at Arendsnest, 5th September 2013. Ok IPA, drinkable, not hoppy enough for me. Not bad.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 24 July 2013) Hazy amber colour with dense, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with orange, toast, apricots and hints of raisins. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, orange peel, apricots and a generous spicy bitterness emerging at the back of the palate after a while. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Well made and solid IPA. Nice one.
