8/XI/20 - 33cl can from Moor taproom (London), shared @ home, BB: 26/II/21 (2020-1036)

Clear dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige to brown head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: nicely roasted malts, some cocoa powder, hint of caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very nice roast, malty profile, pretty bitter, cocoa powder, hoppy touch, hint of caramel, some more malts. Aftertaste: bitter hops, dry, good roast, volley, classic old school stout, very nice.

Paired with vlaai (gingerbread pudding style pie) and homemade sour cream.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at the Vaults in Bermondsey. Pours deep brown with a foamy, tan head. Well rounded but still has some kick, moderate roast, little scorched earth and baking cocoa. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with subtle ashy roast, more baking cocoa, decent earthy bitterness, nips of coffee. Very solid.

Half-pint, keg at Moor Vaults. Shared with Finn. Lacing rings down the glass from a beige head over a jet black body. Black malts with oat and chocolate, promising. Well balanced flavours of chocolate, cocoa and dough. Nice, subdued roasted malty ending, long-lived. Pleasant. (Bermondsey, London 19.10.2019).

Dark brown, almost black, minimal brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, some ash. Medium bitterness, dry. Soft carbonation, surprisingly light body. Good, but not very interesting.

Taste comprises more fruit cake, molasses, dark treacle toffee, chocolate, light pinch of spice, dried fruits. Medium plus body, fine carbonation, drying close. Ok easy drinking impy of a touch on the simple side.

Delt med Rune. Svart. Mokkafarget skum langs glasset. Lett sjokoladearoma. Smaken det samme. Myk munnfølelse. Litt lakris i ettersmaken. Avslutter tørt.
