Creamy beige head stayed well on a very dark brown active body. Chocolate, rum, plum, brown sugar aroma - smells fantastic! Big mouth feel, creamy on the palate & a slight tang on the back. Dark fruits, brown sugar, plum, raisin, slightly boozy & very slightly bitter back.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Translucent medium brown with small beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, medium body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is caramel malt, some dark fruit, and some dark candy sugar. I believe the low rating is due to having this after St. Bernadus 12.

Bottle from BrewDog online, drunk at home. Dark brown, translucent with a tiny bit of beige/tan head. Burnt plums, crème brûlée, Bananas Foster, hyssop aroma. Taste is Oh my dear Mother of God gorgeous: sweet, sugary and yeasty with a notable amount of bitterness holding it in balance. Short finish. Very carbonated but the body is disappointingly thin, but I could drink this all night. An incredible concoction.

Huge thanks to Iznogud and Werckmeister for sharing the bottle! Drank at the Who Cares for Beer Festival 2016, Bevog Brewery in Bad Radkersburg, Austria. Murky reddish-brown, beige head. Aroma of dry fruits, fruit jam, alcohol and yeast. Mostly sweet. Full body, alcoholic and dry finish. Very complex.

Jun. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle from Mali Ducan, Split. It poured a lightly hazy copper to brown body with medium sized head. Dark fruit, caramel and herbal aroma, rather weak and simple. Flavor was lightly sweet, fruity (cooked), with some chocolate and residual sugar, not bad but quite simple and empty. Especially considering the ABV, which was not felt much, but everything else was seemingly dampened together with alcohol. Medium body with shorter, chocolate and dark cooked fruity finish. Not bad, showed some very fine notes, but not more than an average Belgian style brew. Expected so much more seeing these ratings! Brand surely sells here.

Bottle: (as "Monk’s Brew") Cloudy, dark brown with a creamy, whipped tan head. Aroma of vanilla candi-sugar, toffee, dark fruit. Flavour is fudge, vanilla , a touch of bitter coffee, plum... Creamy, a little peppery, nicely complex. Wonderful !
