Our house Belgian style pale ale is an ode to St. Dunstan, a Somerset cleric, famed for defeating the Devil with a pair of tongs. He was exiled to Belgium for provoking his King, only to return two years later when the Monarch was driven out by revolution. This beer is our demonstration of the flavours produced by combining light struck, English & European, hops, with farmed and foraged botanicals. The woody, herbal & skunked flavours of these hops, are heightened by the floral notes and spiciness of our botanical blend containing, Somerset Lavender & Scottish Juniper Berries. The base of barley & wheat are fermented with a combination of ale and wine yeasts, for a dry, yet fruity undercurrent. Dunstans Exile is inspired by the complex, yet quaffable beers of Belgian Tradition.

Draft sample @ Swafff '19.

18/V/19 - on tap @ SWAFFF (Brussels), BB: n/a - (2019-761) Thanks to the Belgian Ratebeer crew and the Antwerp beer geeks for sharing today's beers!
Clear pale blond beer, creamy off-white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very floral, roses, some lavender, a bit too soapy to my liking. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: tastes like a very yeasty witbier, very floral, soft bitterness, little chemical. Aftertaste: rather unpleasant bitterness, soapy, floral, lavender, little fruity.

Keg @ Victorian Craft Beer Cafe, Halifax. Light golden with a thinnish head and is light dry hoppy. There's some sweetness, although an inoffensive carbonation seems to subdue some of its flavour.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Hazy golden body with a short-lived head. No visible carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of orange, lemon and straw. Flavour of funky lemon and apple. Thin body with a watery texture. Weak fizz. It has interesting notes but I feel like it could be a bit fizzier and fuller in body.
