The session ales derive their name from the way they used to be consumed: session wise. These sessions often took place in between activities of a more responsible nature. Hence these hoppy ales generally contain no more than 5% alcohol, mostly even less. Despite its low alcohol percentage our India Session Ale is quite a very firm beer. Dry hopped with Chrystal and Nugget it is fresh and it is fruity. Not in the least due to the extra bergamot orange. It is as tasty as it is trendy.

Bottle. Slight hazy light golden with white head. Lots of herbs and flowers with a touch of citrus peel and white pepper. Not much of a malty backbone, this is really dry spicy and hoppy ale. Light bitter with tart finish, barely any sweetness. Slight thin feel on a light body. Nice.

Bottle split in Craigs room, Borefts Day 2 after party tasting, 27/09/14 thanks to the person who brought this number. Hazed golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is skunky hops, mandarin, pine, straw. Taste comprises mandarin, grapefruit, more skunked hop licks. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, grapefruit and pine wash in the close. Decent skunky sessioner.

Bottle from de Bierkoning, small sample. Slight hazy yellow to golden color, medium white head. Aroma of citrussy hop, some lychee, slight banana spicy note but not much. Medium bitterness in taste, slight grainy malts. Quite clean, certainly for t IJ. Wonderful stuff.

Label says 4.2% abv. Strong citrus nose. Cloudy medium golden colour, two finger foamy white head, recedes after a while to a thin layer, fine lacing. Aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, orange, lime, spruce, herbal notes. Crisp taste, medium to strong bitter. Light body, sticky texture, mild mouthfeel, finish as in taste, lingering bitterness, herbal notes. Another nice one from ’t IJ.
