Muscat grapes make Vigneronne a delicate and very refreshing beer that, due to the fructose, is slightly less acidic than other Cantillon beers.
In spite of its success, the Vigneronne represents less than 5% of the total production of the Cantillon brewery. In order to obtain grapes which are as mature as possible, we buy them at the end of the season. Every year, 1000 kilos of white italian grapes are delivered at the Cantillon brewery in the beginning of October.
It is difficult to produce more Vigneronne even though the demand exists. All the grapes are picked from the bunch by hand and we don’t have much time, since the new brewing season starts at the end of October.
The beers are not blended before the bottling. The second fermentation is caused by the addition of a sugared liquor.
The six-pointed star on our label is an alchemist’s symbol. It contains four elements, represented by triangles, of the brewing process. The fire is the symbol of the mashing tun, the earth of the cereals, the air of the yeasts, and the water is the fourth element. At this moment, only a brewer of traditional lambic may use this symbol.

Vigorously tart, oaky, some musty grapes. Really ace. Thanks Fishtown Tea Mike!

0,75l bottle at home during Charity Tasting. Yellow hazy color, small white head. Smells oak, spices, Estragon, hints of grapes. Lovely smell. Full body, soft carbonation. Tastes oak, spices, tannins, citric, grassy, bit herbal, hints of grapes. Finishes lightly dry and light to medium sour with notes of oak, grass and citric notes. Very nice one, rather on the sour side, very fresh, lovely

1999 vintage 375mL bottle drank June 2004. Pours a yellowish-straw flecked with darker golds and some light coppers. Pretty nice looking with big hazy yellow/olive shades coming out when the yeast has been dumped in at the end. Obviously bottle conditioned. Small head, quite fizzy as usual. Smells magnificent, plenty of leathery tannins, lots of sharp white vinegar notes and of course some light grape hints. Moderate amount of funk. Flavor is wonderful for a gueuze. Though it’s made with fruit, this one does not overdo it (not that I was worried after trying their Kriek). Grapes add some extra sourness, some light vinous notes and a bigger tartness, but the gueuze is there; funky and yeasty. Very leathery, dry, tart and acidic. Didnt find this as funky and complex as the 98 kriek, but it was still an excellent experience.

Great tart/sour aroma, barnyard, and horsey! Great stuff!
The flavor of the white wine grapes was very much present, it added a very nice twang to the tartness of the beer. A great white wine sourness that i really enjoyed. Incredibly easy drinking, and the 6.3% took me by surprise! another great beer by Cantillon.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Dated October 31st 2017. Aroma is tart muscat grapes with tart fruits, notes of sour green appes, white wine, peach, some apricot, and funky notes. Flavour is tart and medium sour with some sweetness from the grapes I presume. Body is medium, lovely smooth balance. The mellow character struck me at first, then this Lambic's subtle depth wowed me.
