This is similar to the original Beer Geek Breakfast. However this version is fermented entirely in oak tanks. The oak imparts a different flavour profile than the original.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout.
The unique mix of oats and coffee gives this beer large body and power, while the coffee, at the same time, creates a nice balance.

Bottle @ ZZTX. Deep dark brown color, almost opague. Coffee, cacao malt and caramel in the aroma. Oak, vanilla, in the slightly herbal, malty sweetish flavor with coffee, whisky, cacao. Alcoholic. Laurel, especially in the finish. Not sure about the balance, otherwise a good beer.

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, oak wood and hints of smoke. Malty, roasted taste with espresso, freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate, wood, hints of smoke, grass, some tamarind and a balanced coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well made, with lots of fresh coffee coming through. Very nice.

750 ml caged and corked bottle poured into a Bruery tulip. Bought in March 2014. Huge pop upon uncorking. Black with a ridiculous amount of tan head as if it were over-carbonated or slightly infected. Aromas of metallic notes, oak, roasty notes, soy sauce, some chocolate. Tastes of chocolate, bitter roast, oak, some metallic notes. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Something is off here.

Bottle. Pour black with a small brown head. I find it alot more harsh and coffee heavy than the orignal beer geek, clear wooden notes.
