Back in the day England had expanded its territory, even to India. To supply our troops with ale we added extra malt and even more hops to conserve the ale for the long journey ahead. A new ale was born: India Pale Ale (IPA). The ships to India were protected by sea lions. Our Sea Lion’s IPA is special and different from our other ales; it is a strong ale! Real English, nice and bitter.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear dark amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is huge malt. The flavour is medium bitter with lots of malt, caramel, liqourice,and dry pepper on the watery palate. It’s not and IPA IMO. It’s very malty with lots of liqourice and half way to a DIPA but without the alcohol and the hops!

Sample @ the brewpub. Thin white head. Vrry little carbonation. Not very bitter. Needs more hops.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of earthy hops, malt, light toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Light bodied session ipa with soft to flat carbonation.
