XXIV. 24 years after Black Butte Porter’s debut, our potent, layered, imperial tribute returns. As usual, it’s a jazz riff, guided by the brewer’s muse and the lure of exotic ingredients. Artisanal dark chocolate nibs. Daglet dates. Mission figs. It may, possibly, hopefully, be the best edition yet. But, as it should be, you’ll be the judge of that.

On tap at The Hay Merchant. Pours a dark amber with a small creamy tan head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is roasted malt and vanilla. Medoum mouthfeel with a sweet chocolate and light roast with lingering light dry finish. Hides the alcohol very well, a very impressive Imperial porter from Deschutes.

On tap and the Bend brewpub. Black with a modest dark tan head. Traces of wispy lacing. Dark sweet roasted flavors and a busy flavor profile. The chocolate is there but not pomonant, the dates and figs round things out nicely. Trying my best to let this warm up a bit. Very nice.
