We took the traditional IPA, originally shipped from England to India in the 1700′s, and made it bolder and more flavorful—American Style. We added new varieties of highly aromatic American hops to create a distinctive bitterness profile and an incredible hop character.

[12oz can from Lowcostbeer.] A golden amber pour with a thick white head that fell back quickly; piney aroma; pleasant malty taste with some chewy resinous hops; and a spicy finish with a little citrus. This would have been an exciting beer twenty years ago, but is now fairly mainstream.

12Fl Oz can, drank at home on Thanks Giving Day 2024 (28th November). Clean golden body, white crown. Hop bitter with a piney leaning, decent malty backbone and slight citrus hints in the finish, happy enough with this!

Notes from April 2009 I've had this before, but never in the capacity to rate it. Thanks to SupeWhite92 for reintroducing us, as well as saying hello to a bunch of beers I have yet to be formally acquainted with. :D A big inch & a half of yellowed off-white froth develops over a clear, wheaty gold body. Lace is akin to a sticky DIPA: a.k.a., ugly & all over the place. Aroma is so damn green with leaves & imaginary chunks of hop pellets grinding in between your fingers. (I actually drank Odell's new red a few days ago, & got the same intense hop aroma. Another bottle is in the queue for a review :o) Nothing else can make it through though. Not absurdly overpowering or sharp, but deep & rich in the perfume of pine & tangerine rind. Malt is apparently nonexistent. Not sure if I like that. Feel is quite under-carbonated; slightly wheaty. Taste is much bitter-sweet tangerine rind, leafy greens, & lemon grass. Minoring slightly in sheet metal, the flavor thankfully has some notion in the back end of grainy malt & earth. It remains relatively juicy & sweet if you ignore everything else. It washes away pretty clean. Too green to my liking, but it's what the people want, right? I remember this being a little more dank the last time I had it(a year+ ago). It's gotten better. Still not a hophead, but I can enjoy this. :)

Can via Beer Republic. Lots of oxidated caramelly resiny character. Medium sweetness, high bitterness, med-thin body, medium carbonation. Hops character muted, general resiny, zesty, fruitiness, but not feeling fresh. Average-goodish.

Can from Raynville Superstore. It pours clear golden - yellow with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh piney vibes upfront, sappy, resinous, oily citrus fruits, orangey, grapefruit, kumquat and definite Irn Bru character. The taste is dry upfront, touch green, resinous, sappy pine, tangy citrus, grapefruit, tangerine, orange marmalade, pomelo, peppery spice, kick of booze and some bready/biscuity malt in the backdrop with a drying, sappy finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Nice old school IPA. A breath of fresh air in a world of hazies.
