[December 2021] Near black with a frothy tan head and sweet milk chocolate on the nose. Medium bodied, there's some roasted malt in there but massively outweight by the sweet milk chocolate

Keg draught at Twenty Ten, Matlock. It is dark brown, almost completely opaque, with a tiny thin ring of khaki head. A little bit of chocolate in the aroma, but also some herbal character, some ash. Taste is sweet which a little chocolate, some treacle, red grape. Ashy bitterness in the finish. An odd beer and not near Overtone's usual high standards. But drinkable enough.

Keg at The Growler. Black body with a thin tan head. Faint lacing. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and hazelnut. Flavour of nuts, ash, woody malt, coconut and milk chocolate. Medium body with a smooth texture. Light fizz. It’s less sweet than I expected, and is all the better for not being too lactose heavy.

Keg, half-pint in the Boot Micropub, Wellington on 4th March 2023. Black bodied, tanned crown. Pretty sweet with a definite chocolate aroma and taste, slick and 'creamy' body wise, nice!

Can. Malty aroma and taste, roastyness, some oaty or other grainy unpleassant notes, maybe some harsh cocoa but definitely lack of chocolate. Medium body, malty roasty bitter finish. Average.

Keg at 73 Enid Street, 09/12/22. Black with a tan cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is mellow roast, chocolate, spice, dried fruit rinds, brown breads. Taste comprises roast malts, light charr, ashen nip, raisins, cocoa powder, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Tidy enough stout.

440ml can, the rebrewed version at 6%. Almost black with a beige head. Aroma of cocoa powder, lactose. Taste is rich, chocolatey, very sweet and milky from the lactose, a little bitterness from the cacao and a hint of roast keeps it in check, a hint of caramel too. Medium bodied, very smooth. Lovely milk stout.
