At a tasting, thanks, smallish head, very cloudy dark red color, aroma pf smoke, charred bread, roasted nuts and light barnyard notes, very strong smoked and charred flavor with a dark maltiness, long lingering smokey aftertaste. Nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Yoav’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Murky amber-brown. Aroma of medicinal peat smokiness, lots of iodine, and sour fruits. Sourish flavor with some malt, a bit of sweetness, fruitiness, lots of medicinal smokiness, and a bitter burnt finish. Medium-bodied. Weird.

Review according to BJCP2008 (style 21A - Roasted chestnut). Bottle 33 cl - Batch KEB (?) AROMA: sweet, roasted aromas (hints of Chestnut and roasted malts). hop aromas not noticeable. some diacetyl is present in the background. APPEARANCE: Brown color and opaque. creamy head of very light brown color with average retention. TASTE: sweet roasted malt, with some roasted chestnut notes. hop flavours not noticeable but with some bitterness. finishes dry and with a bit astringency. PALATE: smooth medium body with average carbonation and a but astringency. OVERALL: a brew with some notes that indeed resemble roasted chestnut but needs some improvements, mainly in the aromas.
