So, here I sit rating beer # 4000 and this is appropriate. I’ve been trying to taste this for years on end. Finally found on tap at the vintage, a great place fer sure. I was hoping for a well behaved wheat beer with bubble gum flavors but what I got was a well behaved slightly hoppy beer. Phil is a great business guy who knows what he’s doing. I was thinken this would be one great wheat beer but it turned out to be somewhat hoppy, surprisingly so. Pale yellah. Slight B/O aroma, what is it with these hoppy beers lately, not in to too much B/O unless its my favorite mate’s, heheh and even then I think of it as perfume. Good co2 keeps this stuff refreshing none the less, baby. Fun overall. But you can tell its made to please the hop heads round here, probably why it has such a good rating. Medium hop bitterness on the finish. For a hoppy beer, not bad by this lager lovers standards. Considering the hop effects from the start, not bad overall. Glad to have finally tasted this and on tap thanks to phil at vintage, YEAH!

Bottle from Mikkeller online shop; clear amber pour with a quickly dissipating bubbly white head, tropic hop aroma of passion fruit and pineapple, taste is not that wheat mostly grapefruit and pine a hint of spice and banana.

Pours clear golden with a white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are citrus, caramel, pine, and a little wheat - with a slightly bitter finish.

Pours hazy gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to coat surface. Citrus and yeast aromas. Soft with wheat, yeast and citrus front to back.

Bottle from Mikkeller Online Shop. Dark golden to orange, slightly hazy body, with a small, frothy, white head. Aroma of citrus, red fruits, orange, peach, bubblegum, grass. Tastes of red fruits, citrus, orange, peach, grass, biscuit. Mouthfeel medium, with a lively carbonation and it finishes moderate bitter, with citrus, red fruits and malt notes. A refreshing, greatly balanced and easy to drink combination of a pale ale and a wheat beer. The Amarillo hops are beautifully showcased. Tasty!

Reviewed from notes. Picked up a sixpack as I drove through Indiana on my way out to Alaska last summer.
She pours a nice bright yet clear golden color and leaves the same colored body, however, its slightly hazy here and there, streams of carbonation are rising at a moderate pace, a one finger white foamy head lasts for about a minute before dieing, some moderate sticky lacing.
The smell has the hops up front, slightly citrusy, slightly grassy, and the wheat is very subdued.
The taste has a balanced sweet fruity grassy citrusy hops, wheat is once again very subdued, slight malty aftertaste, crisp dry finish.
The palate is about a light to medium, semi-sessionable. Carbonation is actually a lot smoother than most APWA’s I’ve had, actually, I would say this is quite impressive for me and for the style.
Overall, I’ve had a fair amount of APWA’s over the years, and I would say this is probably the smoothest one anyone could ever find; I would have this again, even though its a hoppier version of the style.
