Jet black in color and full·bodied with a rich, creamy, long-lasting head. Robust, with luscious chocolate and coffee flavors, it is balanced with just the right amount of UK Golding hops. Brewed with massive quantities of oats, our Oatmeal Stout is smooth in the extreme. It pairs well with a wide range of hearty, full-flavored foods and delicious desserts. Our Oatmeal Stout is 6.0% alcohol by volume and 100% marvelous!

Bottle. Pours a stouty dark brown with a little bit of a head that disappears as it sits in the glass. Aromas are weak... oats, dark malt (chocolate and little peat), and more oats. Flavor is interesting... a mix of oatmeal (both up front and in the aftertaste), chocolate (very mild), cream and a little bit of a Nestle Quik type sweetness. Aftertaste is sweet and chocolate-y.

Bottle: Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose is heavy roast and coffee, just the slightest hint of baker’s chocolate. A creamy mouthful is rather dry, roasty, coffee, and modest bittersweetness. Nice finish is dry and feels like it came from the oats rather than the barley. More hints of chocolate. Good.

12oz bottle. Opaque brown-black, with a respectable beige head. Roasty chocolate aroma. Slightly sweet with some brown chocolate, coffee, cocoa flavors. Soapy hops provide balance. Quite a refreshing, balanced Stout. A touch sweeter than Blackhawk, with some more doughy depth. Pretty solid offering.

Sample at the From The Vine beer tasting on 11/12/2010: The beer is a brownish black color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Smoky and chocolaty aroma. Medium body with flavors of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and malt. The finish is smooth and oaty with a mild chocolate aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle from the Co-Op in Davis, CA. Pours pretty black with a thin tan smear on top. Aroma is smooth burnt malt with a coffee aspect. Full bodied with chewy carbonation. Flavor is pretty much chocolate and coffee with the burnt malt as background. Quite tasty. Just enough bitter to round things out.
