This beer is a favorite of our brewers. A nod to our VP of Brewing, this crisp and refreshing Golden Pilsner owns a subtle sweetness, light body and beautiful aroma from the German Hops. Drinkable anytime, our brewers favorite is now available to all.

Just when you think you've tasted most of the SA brews, you find a couple more. The stream never ends, hehehh. This cheap can pours clear pale with a foamy white head that goes craggy. Smells like yer typical old country pilsner, just plain fresh beer. First taste is a shock to the palate, its got that really sharp pils bite to it so common with domestic pils wannah beez. Yes, a little uncivilized I'd say. Was expecting something a little more behaved. Not like the old country brews fer sher. Long biting sharp bitter pils finish, whew. Almost approaches a crisp IPA in nature. If I didn't know better, I'd guess this was a cold IPA. Hehehh.

Pours clear golden with a fluffy white head. Aroma of bread. Taste has some floral elements, lightly grassy malt, some vague pilsen malt. Palate is weak, much of the same as the taste. Inoffensive.

From old tasting notes. Hazy yellow gold color. Thick creamy white head. Aromatic floral hop bouquet. Tart flavorful semi-dry malt flavor. Plenty of hops throughout. Decent.

Overall Impression: A Sam offering that I haven't tried in a while (and I guess that would make sense since it's retired), but I remember this being rather dull and average, so not too much of a loss...

2001 Bottle drank in 2003. Haha, how's that for vintage beer. Not sure why Caper's Deli had bottles from 2001 of this, but I've been searching for it, so I gave it a try. Good clean aroma of slight noble hops and a fluffy, medium dry apple. Very crisp. Color was a deep golden honey, very clear and bubbly. Moderate white head. Decent aroma of hops and a mildly spicy floral yeast, maybe a touch of honey. Begins with a bitter and dry hops flavor, very odd in that it is a good crisp bitter taste, but little flavor, no citrus, slightly floral I guess. That's about it, not much malt to speak of, I guess there is some barley taste on the finish. Light bodied and peppery textured. I really like the crispness of the noble hops, but it just needs some personality.
