This ultra light colored mead has a complex nose that has floral with apple and peach notes. It is sweet with a full body. The flavor is all honey and peaches with a warm long finish.

2006 bottle from the brewery, drunk 1/8/17.
Appearance as pictured, clear, leaving plentiful sediment behind. Lovely, fiery, burnished copper.
A mix of clean, lightly peppery honey, rich and sumptuous but accented with plentiful acidity to balance. Almost like tart peach or nectarine. Touch of raisin and vanilla creeping in from the age but otherwise no sign of the years. Little/no alcohol in the nose, which is very impressive.
In the mouth it’s sticky, rich and full of sweet honey but almost perfectly balanced on the finish by the acidity that is lip-smacking and bright, leaving the stuff shockingly drinkable. Complex golden raisin, caramel, vanilla, grass, herbs and peach all provide an outstanding variation of flavor. Very clean, soft and with almost no sign of the alcohol. Awesome stuff.

2012 Colorado Mead Tasting at Armin’s house. Thanks to Matt! Pours a light clear yellow appearance. Tangy, earthy/herbal, floral, apricot aroma. Not quite as sweet as the other Kuhnhenn meads. Somewhat dry finish with a moderate boozy burn. Peach, floral flavor. Kind of interesting.

Colorado mead tasting 2012 - this is dangerously light-bodied for the abv - the subtle flavors don’t help this, but otherwise, there are some nice things happening - nose has quite a bit of peach - the flavor has full notes of overripe apple (skin, flesh, core) - flavor is sweet, but for the strength, is surprisingly dry - finish of sweet white wine and floral character - some alcohol heat, but given the abv, I would have expected more - I like it.

2012 bottle (which measures 16%ABV) via a trade. Pours with a crystal clear medium pale yellow hued body. Still, distinct alcohol legs. Aromas are hugely floral, bready, biscuity, dried apricots, flowers, stone fruit, brandy and some alcohol. Medium spice contribution from the alcohol. A touch rustic, marmalade, boozy honey. Flavors are medium sweet, bready, with a lot of tannin and medium balancing acidity. Lots of warm/bready honey character, light marmalade, citrus, floral, grassy, biscuity. Medium to full sweetness, but well balanced. A bit of a wheat like/hay like flavors. Nearly a light umami character on the finish with its richness. Never cloying. Big and viscous body, very light tingling (somewhere south of petillant), full bodied, mildly warming with a well concealed ABV.
