Many thanks for this beer to Erzengel. Near black color, thick light brown head. Peaty nose, smoke, roasted malt.

Slightly smokey, round and fresh beginning. The beer starts smooth and fresh, nice dry with lots of roasty hints. Easy to drink, smooth, malty. The aftertaste is roast, dry, malt. Fresh and easy to drink with nice roast there! I liked it! The bitterness is low, round and nice!

33 cl bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is smoked, roasted malty. Bitter, smoked, dark roasted. Dry, roasted and bitter finish.

Das Bier hat eine klare dunkel orangebraune Farbe und ein fingerbreite beige Schaumkrone. Geruch rauchig holzig, deutliche Röstmalznoten. Geschmack sehr röstmalzig, bitter, Kaffee, im späteren Verlauf mehr süß malzig, holzige Aromen, gering rauchig.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of smoked malts, caramel, roast, a little dark chocolate and toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

330ml bottle. A ruby red glimmer survives in arduous strain the dark brown turbidity, an average to huge, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige to tan head rests upon. Smoky, woody aroma, notes of clammy ashes, dark, minimally chocolately notes behind that, fruity interludes play the claviature in blue and dark berry sections. Taste encompasses typical dark and smoked malt notes, still more woody than "fleshy" smoke, subtle chocolate sweetness, fruity overtones, raspberry and other red and dark berries, a herbal touch as well. Very nice balanced, the smoky notes don’t predominate, remain rather supportable, leave still enough space for the "genuine" Porter; maybe a bit light in some moments. Good!

Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass deep black, nice head. Starts intense malty, roasty, more and more smokey. Dry-hoppy background. Light sweetness. Finish well balanced, still intense roasty-malty, less smokey. Quite drinkable. Not bad!

Dunkler, rauchig röstiger Antrunk, mild bitter. Süffig, minimal säuerlich. Die Rauchigkeit bleibt angenehm, runde volle Herbe. Rundes nettes Bier. 11/12/10/9/12/11

50cl bouteille du Black Piglet, Berlin. Cuivrée-brun léger, col épais café au lait. Arôme est léger en malt grillé et ponctué pour un bouquet modéré de fumé qui est très bien en balance avec le côté porter. Palais est malté, grillé moyen sur un fumé léger qui arrive plus en fin de bouche. Chocolaté moyen, pointe de caramel avec un petit ajout houblonné offrant un palais subtilement épicé. Je perçois également une note de réglisse. Belle balance du fumé sans être au final trop en avant.

Had this at Heidenpeters, Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany Saturday 16th November 2013 Pours dark brown a little hazy perhaps. Smokier tasting than smelling. Soft and quite fruity with a smokey linger interestingly the lady serving behind here has pointed out that we are actually not at the brewpub bar instead we are at her bar she just happens to serve some of his beers, good on her, she’s just told us where to walk to.
