Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Far from a hop bomb, this IPA is engaging, fresh and layered enough to be among the top tier. A white head on an amber/straw body. The nose is features fresh citrus and tropical fruit with a touch of honey. Hops are there for sure, with grapefruit, lemon, melon and kiwi fruit jumping to mind. A honey biscuit taste to the malt and maybe a hint of toffee underneath round it out nicely. Solid carbonation keeps it lively and the slightly slick mouth feel adds to the satisfaction.

From r and h as finest kind ipa. Pours a nice golden hue. Moderate head. Strong pine and resin aroma and similar astringent taste. Ok but a bit harsh.

A run of the mill ipa. Nice citrus, subtle pine. Good balance with the malt, medium bitterness, sharp citrus oil finish, quite nice and easily drinkable.

Bottle 12oz: Hazy orange coloured IPA from New Hampshire, with an quite good sublime hoppy manderine-like taste. This is one IPA i really like, standard but slightly with extra feautures. Also strange but funny label.

Very good IPA, especially if you're looking for a hoop beer with a fairly high IBU. Mild notes of citrus but overall it's not a particularly fruity beer. One of the better IPAs that I've had recently.
