Adam from the Wood is our Adam aged in American Oak barrels. First released in 2000, and released again in November 2011 in 12oz bottles. This 12% beer has lots of the typical HOTD aromas: Caramel, brown sugar, tons of raisin and tobacco. Fig, date, and plum fruitiness in that order. This has a fairly strong earthy vinousness as well as oak vanilla.

12 oz bottle thanks to AdamC. Much thanks! Very dark brown, no carbonation. Aroma is long lasting bourbon with Heaven Hill all up in this brew. Some dark fruit elements, sugar cover figs, raisins, burnt molasses.

This is one hell of a old school German style I did t even know existed. The bourbon barrel is is well integrated it is insane!! The bourbon is deep with very little alcohol noticeable anyplace. That is until you finish the sample. Very nice warming sensation after the swallow. I know the carbonation is flat but I can’t really fault he brew for that, this is just very nice.

Bottle from a trade, 2015 Release

A - Pours a dark mahogany red. A very tiny head that fades fast.

S - This smells incredible. There is so much dark fruit here. Raisin, fig and a lot of whiskey. A ton of oak, vanilla and maybe even some cherry.

T - Smokey, charred oak, a ton of vanilla. The Adam elements are there just a bit thinner than regular Adam. Lingering raisin.

M - Flat mouthfeel, thin but coats the tongue and is sticky

O - Wish this wasn’t thin but whoa, insane.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy dark brown color with a small almost no head. A big sweet huge bourbon nose. Vanilla, figs, leather. The flavor is more huge whiskey, vanilla, oxidation, dark fruit. Massive amounts of bourbon. Sour mash. The barrel is just huge but aged enough to be drinkable. Very different than regular aftw.

Bottle shared thanks to kermis. Almost black with no head. Massive bourbon, vanilla, quite creamy, very woody and rye like spices, grapes, some dark chocolate. Quite sweet with soft roasted bitterness. Medium bodied with no carbonation. Very nice but it leaves me wondering how it would be with some carbonation.
