It’s Old Man Bitter
A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.
An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.
Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Smell-weak hops and malt, some faint citrus and fruits. Foam- thin, hops, weak malt, weak citrus, weak fruits, more hops. Head is medium-sized, orange, brown color, very fine-looking foam. Appearance- can, appealing yet simple, sorry, no bonus. brown, orange amber, weak carbonation. From- snifter Taste - hops, malt, some fruits and more hops. Proper IPA I guess, above-average hops, so not for me, but somehow enjoyable still.

Draft at Fort Street Station. Clear amber with small creamy head. Malty piney aroma. Taste is caramel, juniper, woody. Pretty classic IPA style.

Can. Resin, fruity, lemon, light sweetness, booze makes it feel like a DIPA, sticky maltiness. Not quite one for me, but not saying I didn't like it. Just didn't impress me so much.

Crowler. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, weed. Pours mostly clear new penny copper with a large, long-sustaining cream-white head with excellent retention and lace. Taste is highly bitter, moderately sweet, with flavors like the aroma; has a candy sweet malt presence. Not enough carbonation, but that might be a crowler fill issue. Very old school malt flavors and high hop bitterness.

Can from Marks and Spencer, Leicester. Srunk at home.ominpusly amber, clear with a reasonably-sized beige head. Big resinous aroma with pine needles and medicinal hop. Tastes bittersweet - more sweet than bitter in fact - followed by an intense bitterness near the end of the sip. Lasting bitterness in the finish. Lightly carbonated, medium to full body. A decent classic American IPA.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 3/15/2019. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, caramel, cracker, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, caramel, cracker, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, caramel, cracker, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, sticky/resinous/rindy, and fairy crisp balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.8%. Overall this is an excellent IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and fairly crisp to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Awesome Columbus, Centennial, Cascade profile. Very juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced hop complexity; with a nice balancing dark/bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from crisp resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive classic tasting Midwest style example.
