We're best known for brewing aggressive, big-character beers, but we love a great sessionable ale as much as anyone. Most beers at the less-weighty end of the spectrum lack flavor and depth as much as they lack high ABVs, but not Stone Levitation Ale! This deep amber brew has a rich maltiness, big hoppy character, citrus overtones, and an impressively modest alcohol content for a beer with so much flavor packed into it.

Bottle pour. Pours a dark amber. Light beer with a lot of flavor. A lot of roasted malt. Toast. Long bread finish. Good session beer for sure.

355ml bottle from Utobeer. Why oh why didn’t I pick this up when I was last in the States? Probably the quote on the cap (no one likes a show-off!) or the description on the back being a bit long-winded for me to make it past the 4th line, but the beer itself is great! Pours an orangey brown colour with good carbonation & lacing, presents a great hoppy nose with citrus and fresh hay, expertly hopped / dry-hopped with a resinous quality and prickliness on the back of the palette. Very nice.

Bottle. A- Hoppy, citrus, piney. A- Amber color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Bitter, slightly malty, citrus, balanced. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Quite bitter for an Amber Ale. I would assume this was an IPA in a blind tasting. A decent balance of the hops and citrus. The enjoy by date on this one was actually 3 months past so that may have lowered my rating to some degree.

Another Stone masterpiece. Clear, medium amber with short, silky head. Pure malt in the nose, nut hops come on full bore in the taste. Lingering bitter finish. Wonderful!

Bottle from Antenna America. It pours a great clear amber brown with a thick fluffy beige head that leaves behind decent lacing. Citrusy hop flavors over a caramel malt aroma. Very similar flavor to the Tall Poppy as my wife stated. Basically a citrusy hop leaning towards lemon then counterbalanced by slight caramel maltiness. I think the Tall Poppy had a better malt body but this beer’s citrus hop flavors appeal to me more than the grapefruit I got from the tall poppy. Neither really clicked with me I guess these hoppy browns/reds aren’t my thing. Decent but not great, I like the low ABV which makes this an everyday kind of beer.

Bottle from Cambridge Blue, Cambridge on 23 November 2013. Poured a clear copper colour with a thin white head. Malty aroma with hints of caramel and lavender. Flavours was pine needles, light spice and straw. The hops had dulled a little on the palate and there were butterscotch hints, but also with Christmas cake and dry grain.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours a deep coppery amber colour, foam off-white head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of malt & citrusy hops. Taste is slightly roasted malt, caramel with bready & biscuit notes and some grapefruit hoppy bitterness. Fairly smooth mouthfeel, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry finish. Quite drinkable.

Draught at BBF13. Weak caramelly aroma. Clear dark brown colour. Stable off-white head. The flavour is slightly caramelly, has a medium to high bitterness. A little weak compared to other Stone beers, but not bad.
