Rcvd in trade. Reviewed from notes.
The appearance has a hazy reddish-amber body, one finger white foamy head that quickly dies, no lacing whatsoever.
The smell has pears and apples in front, some light rye and grassiness coming through.
The taste is spicy yet sweet yet peppery as a fair amount of a nice rye peppery flavoring comes through to spice things up a bit and make it feel more than it should be.
On the palate, it sits about a medium body, sessionable, and has a good adequate carbonation.
Overall, what a nice Biere de Garde that has been lagered enough for it to be considered to be a lager. Good for Jack’s Abby, as I would have this again.

Bottle @ home via trades with lukaduke and Ernesto987. Thanks guys! Pours a bit hazy, reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Caramel, orange fruity, spicy rye, sweet candy aroma. Tangy orange candy, chewy grainy rye, spicy, bready, somewhat sweet flavor. Honestly, probably the first Jack’s Abby brew that I didn’t enjoy.

Bottle: Poured an amber color lager with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt with light spicy rye notes with light rustic cereal notes. Taste is also a mix between some cereal notes with some light spicy rye notes and some chewy light caramel malt notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Interesting experiment from a brewery that I would wish to know more about.

Bottle thanks to Alex! Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of rye with a bit of light sweet grains and a hint of dryness. Flavor starts with a lot of rye and has a bit of a grassy dry finish.

Bottle at Sander’s place, NYC. Pours clear gold with a fine, foamy head. Dry, graine bread and rye and pine in the nose. Medium sweet flavor, bready malts, grainy rye, piney bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation.

Pours deep gold into a Sam glass. Off-white head with medium retention recedes leaving sheet lacing to coat surface. Sweet caramel and nut aromas. Soft with sweet caramel and malt upfront turning dry in the lasting pumpernickel bagel finish.

50cl bottle pours a clear amber with some cloudy, eggshell head. Aroma is nice, grainy, malt, some yeast, a little brie rind, light herbal tea. Flavor is excellent, malty, lightly toasty, light cracker, a little cheese, rye, nutty, pencil shavings. Dry, toasty, slightly creamy finish. Really solid.
