Mild ale is an old English and a bit forgotten beer style. It is brewed with English Marris Otter malt and traditional English hop varieties such as Fuggles and East Kent Goldings. It is a beer with a low alcohol content and despite tha a full, malty flavor.

Bottle at home. Aroma of dark malt, hint of roast, some spicy and dark fruity notes, liquorice, hint of chocolate and coffee. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Surprisingly complex and interesting Mild Ale.

In bocca l'aroma riconosce caramello, miele, biscotto, cereali, caffè, liquirizia e pane tostato.

Bottle from Worldwide Alcohol, Chelmsford closing down sale. Pours hazy mid/dark brown with a big frothy long-lasting off-white head. Aroma is moderately roasted, with milk chocolate, malt, light coffee, fruit, hop and is slightly nutty. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average carbonation. A pretty decent take on a traditional English mild.

Bottleshare at Matteo’s. Thanks to Fergus. Hazy amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry, decent carbonation. Fluffy malts, tired tasting caramel and a touch of paper. Little dried fruits. Light dry finish. Inoffensive but pretty dull.

330ml bottle. Very dark brown with a long lasting off white head. Aroma is roasted malt, some liquorice. Flavour is similar with a toffee base and a big dose of dried fruit. Good

Dark brown with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of dark malts. There’s an undertone of bitter chocolate. Nice flavour but very heavy on carbonation which is not becoming of a Mild Ale.

Bottle shared in London at Casa Matteo - thanks to Fergoose. Pours brownish red wi a creamy, tan head. The nose has some dusty toast, faint leathery berries, dirt. Light sweet flavour with a bit of toasted caramel, crackers, earth, brown sugar. Light bodied with lively carbonation. A little dry in the finish, with faint ashy roast, cocoa, more earth. So so.
