Thanks to Darkover for the trade. This brew is a dark brown color that lets quite a bit of light in. Medium dark beige head and fair lacing. Aroma of burnt malt and coffee. Medium-bodied with a strong roasted coffee character, with some malt and hops flavor. Decent balance, but lacking a little in the flavor department. The finish is lightly bitter coffee. Decent overall.

Bottle Pours a fairly clear dark brown with a large foamy light tan head settling down maintaining thick spotty lacing. Aroma is a bit unusual sour hoppy note with some chocolate and dark malts. Flavors are dry sour and bitter. Metallic and astringent. Feel is thin and carbonation is lively. Trailer is a burnt papery woody taste.

Deep red-brown body, thin light tan head. Classic roasted malt aroma with dark chocolate tones. Flavor begins with sweetened chocolate and caramel before developing the strong roasted malts. Bitter finish. Piney hops are notable and meld with the roasted malts to create mentioned bitterness. Pretty good.

This one pours nicely with a deep dark brown color highlighted by red at the edges, under a light tan head. Nice sweet malt aroma. The flavor is lightly roasted malt, with a dry palate and a lightly sharp finish. Some smokiness, but very subtle. I’d like just a bit more body, but this is a nice Porter and deserves a try.

2004 bottle. Pours a dark dark chestnut brown with hints of violet and red tinges on the edges. Small beige head, quite bubbly with an exceptional aroma (figs, concord grapes, caramel, molasses) for a porter; especially seeing as how this one is not bottle conditioned. Flavor is immensely dry and quite vinous. But not too dry that it ruins the beer. As it warms, a delicious chocolate/plum brandy flavor arises, backed by a hearty medium-full body, nice zesty carbonation and a chewy chocolatey finish. The hops add notes of bitterness, but never jump out at you. Great specimen, I’d love to try this one on draught.

Great dark brown colour, almost opaquely black. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate and a bit of hops! The taste is almost completely roasted malt, but also finishes with a coffee taste and a tiny bit of hop bitterness. A good dry porter with some decent flavours! Definately worth trying if you can find it! I bought my twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York.
