Aged for 12+ months deep in the old gypsum mines south of town, this Belgian inspired quadrupel ale pours a deep amber. The big alcohol of the quad pulls notes of bourbon, vanilla and charcoal from the barrels and melds perfectly with the caramel richness.

16 ounce can from Tavour. This is the 2022 release that comes in at 14.3% ABV. Clear copper color. Brief bubbly white head. Toasted malt aroma hints at caramel and oak. Flavor upfront is sweet, oaky and boozy. Hot alcohol and sticky malt. Added notes of orange liquor, dried fruit, vanilla and bourbon. A bit overwhelming at first. Best if sipped slowly and perhaps shared with others.

2021 can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear amber chestnut color with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Prune, oak and dates on the nose with warming bourbon and vanilla as it warms. More fruit and oak on the palate. Good lingering vanilla, slight bitterness and warming bourbon. Very nice.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear and darkly ruddy with a transient tan head. Red glints all around the glass. Aroma of dates and plums, bourbon/vanilla and rather roasty malt. Arguably full bodied. Flavor of plums and dates, and perhaps pale stone fruits too, with tingling carbonation, malt that's not light nor burnt, and bourbon/vanilla all along the trial. Belgian yeast/spice finally is discernible. And then it all falls into place - It's a quad. And a very, very tasty quad.

16 oz. can, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out bourbon upfront, with dark fruits, brown sugar and Belgian yeast. Flavour is bourbony, with lots of dark fruits, brown sugar, Belgian yeast, and big bourbon notes without much heat. Really nicely rounded with not many harsh notes.

1 pint can. Pours a deep clear copper with very light head. Aromas of candi sugar, caramel, light oak and bready malts. Rich sweet flavors of same. Bourbon is subtle. Excellent American quad. Ready to drink.
Sweet and sticky but also smooooooth. Spiced and toasted suger everywhere.

16 oz can. Pours a clear deep brown with an off-white head. Ripe dark fruit aroma. Raisin and molasses flavors, red apple, bourbon working in with some vanilla flavor. Pretty tasty, really, but very sweet.
