2003 Bottle. Poured black with no head whatsoever. Aroma has an odd wine note with roasted malts and dark chocolate. Flavor begins with dark chocolate and roasted malts but a dry wine note grows towards the finish and becomes surprisingly vine.

Bottle, vintage 2003. Black with a tiny head. It proved to be an odd beer, my first comment in terms of flavor was rum raisin. Furthermore, there were taste of red wine, vinegar, coffee, licorice, cherry, soy, syrup and some chocolate. Also some weak roasted tones. A strange beer that was at 9% but still felt quite thin, almost a bit lifeless in some way. A glass of 15 cl was enough. Sour and salty finish.

En av världens bästa imperial stouts. Bryggd enligt gammalt recept. Väldigt vinös.

2003 bottle under the Le Coq label, from Wine * Beer Westpark, Richmond, VA. Ppurs an opaque black color with a nearly total lack of carbonation. No head whatsoever. Aroma of dark roasty malts with caramel, along with significant oxidation notes including sherry and vinous notes. Also strong notes of cork. The taste is toffee, raisins, wood, sherry, bitter vinous notes, plums and other fruits. Sadly this is well past its prime, but it still has a bit of value.

Bottle Vintage 2003 After trying to pull the cork. (it snapped in half it was so dry). Pours out a flat pitch black topped with no head. Aroma is very nice sweet pitfruit and rich malt. Taste is of flat coffee, smoke, soy, and bitterness. Sad to say not so good.

2008 vintage rated in 2012: lovely black with dark foam. Rich umami nose. Salty chocolate flavor with sea water, berries, meaty bacon. Very thick and sweet, a bit hot. Strangely fascinating, and much better than the older one. 2000 vintage rated in ’09: 6/4/7/4/14 Sour, oxidized, aroma with sherry and dark fruit. Flavor of Worcestershire sauce, bitter chocolate, sherry, soy sauce, wood, and sour fruits. Oxidized and quite old. Very sour. Has kept its quality well. Very winey. No carbonation at all.

2003 bottle, pours black and oily with a thin tan film resting on the very top. Aroma is mildly chocolate with soy sauce and black patent. Powerful! Still with no carbonation. This is hard to swallow. Foul soy sauce and oxidation. Gross drain pour.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a very thin foamy head with not much head retention or lacing. Aroma of soy-sauce and salty malt makes for a weird and unique experience. Taste is again very unique with some salty notes and weird soy-sauce like finish. Body is full with very light carbonation and no signs of alcohol. Very unique experience but unfortunately not one that is really to my liking.

Flaske 0,275l merket "Imperial Extra Double Stout". Årgang 2008. Gave fra Rune. Takker! Nydelig. KI=9
