Pitch black coloured body with a three centimetre tall rich light brown head. Aroma of cream, lactose, vanilla, oak, alcohol, soy sauce, mushrooms, earth and a good deal of roasted malts. Full-bodied; Sweet flavours at first with brown sugar, molasses, toffee and a lot of vanilla noticeable coupled with some roasted malt, a light amount of coffee and earth and a smooth cherry and fruity finish with the drier oak and grainy flavours that show up at the end. Aftertaste shows some bitterness from the dry roasted malt, but a lot of creamy notes from the lactose along with some depth from the alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice robust Imperial Stout with some smooth flavours, a lot of complexity and a deep creamy finish - smooth, especially considering the alcohol. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Costco in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 17-October-2015 for US$7,99 sampled at home in Washington on 15-February-2017. My first try of a Clown Shoes anything. Off to a good start. It pours out of the bomber into a snifter a typical Imperial Stout an inky black. It comes with a swell light brown head that eventually breaks up. The nose is a moderate molasses and chocolate. Inviting. The flavors in the taste are interesting, oak, earth, toast and a nice sweetness at the end. I detect no push of the alcohol, my bottle indicates 10.5%. Worth a return visit.

Mixed rating bottle pour into taster cup at One Stop Market 30th Anniversary and can pour from Total Wine & More, Burlington. Appearance is opaque black with decent sparkle at the edges of the glass, ring of finger-width light brown head with fair retention and decent lacing. Aroma is dark fruits, vanilla, roasted malts, alcohol and tinge of chocolate and smoke. Taste is roasted malts, milder dark fruit, smoke and chocolate. Palate is medium bodied with smooth, creamy texture with average carbonation, finish like taste. Overall, the smoke adds a nice little unique wrinkle to this, which also has the usual delicious features of an impy.

Bomber shared by Carlson. Black color, with a small, tan head. The aroma is bittersweet chocolate, cinnamon, anise, and light peat. Sweet and very malty, with a sharp roasted bitterness. Heavy body, syrupy, and thick. This is a flavorful and strong stout, even a bit overly assertive. Still, pretty tasty.
