Rather messy stab at a quad, insanely sweet with a medicinal bitterness that leads to a Robotussin-style finish. Some dark fruit complexity pops up, candied cherries and dates, but mostly you get a sickly sweet molasses front hindered by an off-putting metallic undertone. Alcohol remains well hidden--perhaps the one thing this beer does well--but otherwise its a no-go.

500 ml bottle into chalice, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, fig, date, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, pepper, light nuttiness, light herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, date, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, biscuit, pepper, light nuttiness, light herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spiciness and herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, date, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, biscuit, pepper, light nuttiness, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome quadrupel style! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

50cl bottle pours with a near clear deep red to amber body that supports a thin light tan head. The aroma starts with modest yet thick sweet malts and then it quickly brings up sticky molasses covered warm dates and then prunes and dried brown sugar covered cherries. The end of the draw is met with a fairly firm booziness. The taste begins smooth and sweet with malts for a brief moment before tangy date, cherry and prune fruity sweetness over whelms the experience. To midway it gets a tad hot and a tad peppery amid the sludgy swirls of dark fruity sweetness and molasses notes. Decent Quad. It would be fun if it conjured up a bit of earthiness to help compliment all the dark fruity sweetness. Although I do enjoy the nearly nectar like fruity esters that murmur to the surface every now and then it comes up a tad short.

Draft at the Normal, IL location. Poured a slightly light copper color, small creamy, fluffy white head. Aroma was sweet malts, candi and brown sugars, caramel notes, spices, a touch dry notes from honey. Alcohol is really masked in this 10% brew. Didnβt really pick up on the raisins, but thatβs probably for the best on my part.
