This beer has a somewhat more noticeable bitterness, and its mixture of malts and rice makes it rather dry. With a refreshing feeling, balanced bouquet and full body, it works very well as an accompaniment to food. Pilsen has been on the national beer market since 1888.

Canned, 0.35l. Clear deep golden color with small frothy white head and average visible carbonation. Aroma is grassy, malt is weak, unfortunatelly some skunky smell is present, too. Taste starts with fresh malt, softened by adjuncts, then followed with grassy undertones. Although plain, some malt spiciness is felt in the mouthfeel, while finish is mildly bitter. Light body, thin texture and average carbonation in palate. Same as others Tico beers, nothing special...

First beer in Costa Rica. Hopefully it gets better from here. Had this at a truck stop on the chicken bus route I took from the Panamanian border to San Jose. Kinda sour, a bit of a foul aftertaste. Ghetto-looking bottle.

12 oz can brought back by a good friend from his trip to Costa Rica, Thanks for the opportunity Rob! Pours a solid golden yellow with a smallish white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of sweet pilsner malt with hints of grain honey and enough hops to keep it from cloying. Sweet rich grainy malt with a slight floral hop flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slightly sweet mouthfeel. I liked this best of the three beers we sampled at our impromptu Central America lager fest. Decent beer for the style but could have really used some more hops.

Can from Sandy O. "La Cerveza Rubia". 5.1% Pours gold with a transient white head. It smells bready and herby. Med body. It is bready, and it’s sort of smooth herb/veg. Definitely on the dry side. But hop flavor?

Deeper yellow with minimal white head. Lots of grainy cereal. This was very drinkable and my second favourite in Costa Rica after Imperial.

Bottled. A golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma has skunky notes of brewing cereal. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, and cereal, leading to a dry finish. The body is light. Thanks Christian for sharing.
