Again, the basic old and young lambic are matured in oak casks. But here we add to one year-old lambic about 400 grams of real cherries per litre. This creates a second fermentation in the casks. Oude Kriek Boon then undergoes a further fermentation in the bottle and has an alcohol volume of 6.5%. After several months, the flavour has matured to the desired taste.
Oude Kriek Boon is a test of your patience. It should lie about 2 years in the bottle. At first, it tastes of fruit, especially sour cherries. Oude Kriek Boon eventually evolves into a deep taste reminiscent of Port or Madeira wine. This is kriek at its best.

Wat ouder exemplaar, maar nog steeds zachte krieken meer, marsepein. Wel vrij veel koolzuur, niet zo zuur. Prima op een zomerse dag

Bottle from Wine Reserve, Cobham. Vinous aroma with peel and cherry stone. A sweet edge from the cherry. Opaque dark ruby red. Foamy pink head. Medium-heavy sour with a fruity streak. The sourness gains sourness before mellowing as I drink more. Light-medium bodied. Slick Average carbonation. Long astringent finish. Lovely sipper with a mellowness to it.

37,5 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ de Prins, Rhenoy. Clear ruby with a pink head. Aroma of sour cherries. Sour taste with a sweet taste and a sour quite dusty finish. I do like my Lambics and gueuzes and even the occasional kriek but this one didn't do it for me as it tastes dusty and dull.

Kurde, w tych boonach nie czuc wieku zabardzo. Jest wisniowo, jkapke pestkowo, grzeczniutka dziczyzna, wytrawne, lekko kwasne, bardzo smaczne ale tez bez zadecia

Aromat niemal same wisnie, skorki wisni, dojrzalych. Umiarkowana dosc kwasnosc ale zeciutka nitka octu chyba. Niezbyt zlozony calosciowo, bez pestkowosci raczej, dziczyzny niebaudzo... nie czuc wieku, jak na lambika slabo

2000. Deep red color, pinkish lasting head. Aroma and flavor have cherry (off course) but certainly not a overwhelming sticky cherry sweetness, almonds and pepper. Only a hint of sweetness, problably from the fruit only. Somewhat dusty. Some oaky and almondy bitterness. Complex quality kriek, maybe a bit more refined as Cantillon.
