Horchata is a traditional, sweet, milky drink originating in Spain and Latin America that has become quite popular in Southern California, particularly with Mexican cuisine. Our take on the traditionally non-alcoholic drink is a blonde ale brewed with a heavy dosing of rice, cinnamon and fresh vanilla beans along with lactose for a little extra creamy character. If you didn't know better, you'd think it was carbonated horchata. The flavor is hard to describe, but for those who know it, you know you love it. This limited edition variation on our seasonal release is spruced with a bit more spice for extra kick.

Bottle split at the Columbus Christmas Bash (who knew this would be the last!), thanks to Kenny, Level 6, 15/12/22. Lightly hazed golden amber topped with a light beige cap that veers edgewards. Nose is caramel, dried fruits, sugars, mellow barrel. Taste comprises fruit slice, booze, toffee, sugars, cinnamon. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light rising boost. Solid.

29/1/2023. Bottle shared by Colin, cheers. Pours almost clear pale amber bronze with a minimally bubbly head. Aroma of toffee, golden syrup, sweet malt, berries, mashed fruits, boozy edge. Medium to heavy sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, oily and sticky, very soft carbonation. Nice sweet finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle shared in Canary Wharf - cheers to Kenny. Pours lightly unclear copper with a small, foamy off-white head. Hugely sweet, notes of honey, toffee, stewed fruits, bread, fruitcake, faint oxidation, faint herbal notes. Full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Mellow warmth in the finish, toasted sugars, more honey, stewed fruits, dates, plums. Enjoyable in a very small dose but not quite to my tastes overall.

Xmas Boozy Bottleshare. Thanks to me. Hazy orange amber beer, tiny pale tan head. Light palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Light malts, a light creamy sweetness. Smooth sweet vanilla and soft cinnamon. A touch of ripe candied fruits and spice on the light finish. Nice enough, quite festive and more drinkable than the first few mouthfuls would indicate.
