Draft last week at Pizzeria Paradiso - Old Town. Poured a dark cola color with a small off-white head. Aroma was notes of boozy resin, malt. Chocolate roasted malts, resin, herbal notes.

Bottle from Adroit Theory. Pours black tan head. Nose/taste of cocoa, alcohol soaked tropical fruit, ripe citrus, earthy molasses and chalky chocolate roast - medium body.

Keg at the brewery, 4/10/15. Clear dark brown, thin frothy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, floral hops and a soapy note. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, molasses, anise, herbal hops. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

On draft at Adroit Theory. Pours black with a tan head. Toasty nose. Flavors of licorice and citrus. Nice. I wonder whether the Three Notch’d version was identical to the Adroit- brewed version I tasted.

Just tried the bottled version -- also delicious. It shows 11.8% abv -- different from the Three Notch’d version.
