Pours a very dark brown from a can. Nicely roasty, coffee aroma. A little more coffee in the mouth, maybe a little too much so? Good beer.

473ml can. Clear, dark brwon colour with ruby shimmer and huge, frothy, moderately to mostly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Slightly earthy, nutty, toasty, caramel malty and yeasty fruity aroma, hints of caramel and lingonberry, dusty, yeasty overtones. Taste is rather dry, slightly earthy, nutty, toasty, caramel malty, minimally yeasty fruity, slightly leafy hoppy, diluted hints of dark caramel, toasted nuts, minimally chalky overtones. Watery texture, dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Rather dry, quite watery, almost a bit anaemic - so-so.

Can pour from Total Wine & More, Burlington. Appearance is dark, dark mahogany-brown with light sparkle, thin cap of beige head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is toasted bittersweet malts, nuts, earth, cardboard. Taste is roasted malt, earth, vague nuts. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, pretty standard brown ale with an earthy, nutty bent.
